During your dental exam, we will check your entire mouth for any lumps or patches. Screening for early changes in the oral tissue can help detect cancer at a stage when it can be more successfully treated. When decay occurs below the gumline, it may be necessary to remove a small amount of bone and gum tissue. Your dentist may ask for this procedure before he or she makes a new crown for your tooth. |
